Himebaugh.com has been online since 1997 displaying genealogical research on the Himebaugh family done by Jane Lee Himebaugh and Ernest P Himebaugh. During this time, I have enjoyed having my own personalized email address (lang@himebaugh.com) and website (www.himebaugh.com/lang/ and now lang.himebaugh.com). Through the years I have spent over $2,000 to keep the site running. I've been looking for a way for people to support this site, as well as benefit from it... Now you can have an email address like yourname@himebaugh.com and a website like yourname.himebaugh.com with a yearly membership to himebaugh.com for $60. Email for Himebaugh.com is powered by Google, where email is more intuitive, efficient and useful.
This email is identical to gmail and is web based, so you can check your email from any computer, anywhere. You get a custom start page with integrated email when you sign in at http://start.himebaugh.com, and/or you can check your email at http://mail.himebaugh.com. You can check email with MS Outlook if you wish, but I don't recommend it. You can setup email to work with this account on your iPhone! A website at Himebaugh.com is a bit more flexible. You will be given yourname.himebaugh.com, provided it is not already taken. Option #1 - You can setup an account on wordpress.com. They give you 3GB space and unlimited transfer. Their data is backed up hourly. You can update the blog entries along with photos through an iPhone application. Wordpress.com charges $10/year to map yourname.himebaugh.com to your account. I have setup an example at http://lang.himebaugh.com/ Option #2 - You can setup an account on blogger.com. Blogger Mobile lets you send photos and text straight to your blog while you're on-the-go. All you need to do is send a message to go@blogger.com from your phone. Blogger.com does NOT charge extra to map yourname.himebaugh.com to your account. I have setup an example at http://example2.himebaugh.com/ Option #3 - You can setup an account on flickr.com. When you have a free Flickr account, you can upload 100MB worth of photos each calendar month. You maybe limited to upload 30 photos per month depending on the resolution or your camera and whether or not you resize the images before uploading. I have setup an example at http://example3.himebaugh.com/ Option #4 - I can give you ftp access with 100MB of space to create a custom website. This option is the most flexible, but is the most work. You should know how to use MS Frontpage or Adobe Dreamweaver. Basically you need to know how to set up a website yourself. I have an example at http://himebaugh.com/lang/ of what is possible. (I need to charge extra for data transfer over 1GB per month... I'm kind of limited, so I don't encourage anyone to use this option if you're a celebrity or show lots of videos like me. Linking to videos on YouTube does not use bandwidth.) Getting Started... 1.) Send me an email to verify your name is available and tell me if you want to use one of the website options above. 2.) Send me $60 via PayPal to lang@himebaugh. You can pay using a credit card at www.paypal.com 3.) I'll setup the email account and give you a temporary password. You can change your password at any time. I will not be able to read your email. |
